Closest to the Jack
Bob Horn from the Toronto Workers Bowling Club gave the novices to bowls a great introduction to the sport. About 26 of the sailors competed in the annual New Years Day "Skippers Vs Forward Hands" tournament.
The event started at about 1:30 p.m. and continued through the afternoon. The round robin competition weeded out the competition and the final started with the best skippers pair facing the best forward hand pair. The afternoon finished at about 5:30 and all retired to the club for more drinks and a meal in the bistro. Although some of the more energetic sailors continuied on in the sun with a cricket match in the park opposite the Workers Club.
Thanks to the Toronto Workers Bowls Club for the use of their facilities. A big thanks to Bob Horn for his effort welcoming our visitors.
